SKETCHBOOK: "4 More Bots"

Glad you folks are likin' my robot sketches...they're some of my favorite things to draw. I added a little color tinting in Photoshop, to make 'em pop a bit better. There are plenty more where these came from!

SKETCHBOOK: "More Warrior Angels"

Over the weekend, I had a lot of time to sit and sketch...I ended up playing around with more elaborate patterns. The angels came first, then the design elements sort of grew out of that.

SCULPTURE: "Apple Heads" FINISHED

"Man About Town"

"Stay Away From My Corn!"

"A Stroll In The Park"

Here are the "Apple Head Folks" all dried and painted (on DAY 15). I made the little bodies and hats out of Sculpy clay. I painted the apples more than the "traditional" craft would call for...I didn't soak the freshly carved apples in lemon juice right away on the first day, so they turned rather brown.
And, yes...the old lady is pretty creepy looking. Actually...they're ALL kind of creepy...I like 'em! Even though they took too long to dry for my attention span, it was a fun, weird little experiment.

SCULPTURE: "Apple Heads" pt.3

Here are my little Apple Folks on DAY 12...getting pretty close to the finished stage of dehydration.

I cut a few more slits in the center apple skin...just isn't drying out very fast. My original thoughts were that the apple skin might dry to look like fabric...like a hood around the old lady face. The wrinkles look kind of cool, but the dry-time is lots longer with the peel on.

The quarter in the shot will give you a sense of scale...the apples have shrunk quite a lot over the last dozen days. I'll give them a little more drying time, then I'll paint 'em and add some hair or something interesting for the finishing touches.
